WASHINGTON, May 16 (OneWorld) - Antiwar veterans of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan took their case to Capitol Hill Thursday, baring their souls with stories of killings of innocent civilians, torture, and wrongful detentions.

Recent military operations by US and NATO forces have displaced thousands of families in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, forcing them to live without shelter, food and medical assistance. UN agencies and other international aid groups have been asked to provide humanitarian relief to the unfortunate victims.

Sri Lankan government’s decision to ease restrictions on fishing in Eastern Province, a territory hitherto controlled by LTTE rebels, will give much needed fillip to the industry – a major source of revenue for the country’s exchequer and livelihood for people.
