29.06.2007 Dozens of villages have been flooded; houses, fields and trees have disappeared under water and people have became landless, since the government of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh closed the gates of the Omkareshwar dam in the Narmada valley. Support the demands of the people in the Narmada Valley by sending the letter to the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh for adequate compensation and rehabilitation for the people.

Le sovvenzioni all'agricoltura di Usa e Ue mettono in ginocchio le economie africane
22.06.2007 E' fallita dopo due giorni di lavori la riunione del cosiddetto G4 di Potsdam (Ue, Usa, Brasile e India) che aveva l'obiettivo di fare passi avanti sulla strada verso una ulteriore liberalizzazione del commercio mondiale. I rappresentanti di India e Brasile hanno lasciato i lavori in forte polemica con Stati Uniti e Unione Europea in particolare sulla tematica delle sovvenzioni agrarie. "Era inutile proseguire il negoziato tenuto conto di quello che viene proposto" - ha detto il ministro degli Esteri brasiliano, Celso Amorim, che ha confermato come sia stata l'agricoltura all'origine della rottura. "Anche se una prima intesa tra questi paesi avrebbe sbloccato lo stallo del Doha Round dobbiamo rammentare che le trattative coinvolgono tutti i 150 membri dell'Organizzazione Mondiale del Commercio, di cui 32 sono paesi meno avanzati che rimangono sempre più fuori dal negoziato" - sottolinea una nota della Focsiv.

12.06.2007 Lo sfruttamento del lavoro minorile coinvolge 218 milioni di piccoli nel mondo e causa 22 mila morti ogni anno. Nella Giornata mondiale contro il lavoro minorile, la Fao fotografa una situazione drammatica e in costante peggioramento, che travolge e calpesta il diritto all'infanzia soprattutto nel settore dell'agricoltura. Secondo le stime dell'Organizzazione internazionale del Lavoro (Ilo), il settore agricolo impegna il 70% di minori, vale a dire un terzo della forza lavoro dell'intero comparto: sarebbero infatti 132 milioni di bambini e bambine tra i 5 e i 14 anni impiegati nei campi. Per questo l'Ilo e cinque organizzazioni internazionali agricole (Fao, Ifad, Ifpri, Cgiar, Ifap, Iuf) hanno lanciato oggi una nuova alleanza mondiale per combattere il lavoro minorile in agricoltura. Per quanto riguarda l'Italia sono migliaia i bambini, per lo più stranieri, che vengono sfruttati ma sono ancora poche le denunce - afferma Save the Children.

07.06.2007 LOS ANGELES, Jun 6 (OneWorld) - The Coca-Cola company has been charged with illegally seizing lands communally owned by small farmers and indiscriminately dumping sludge and other industrial hazardous waste onto the surrounding community. This comes as the multinational beverage giant announced a new effort Tuesday to protect rivers on four continents.
